Glossary

Monsanto is currently involved only in agricultural biotechnology. This includes techniques for the transfer of genetic material or characters between plant species or between micro-organisms and plants.

Such developments are generally regarded as an extension of plant breeding, but they allow more precise transfer of single traits or characters than the more random nature of cross-pollination.

We are not at present involved in any work with human genetics or with human genes. Nor are we involved in work with animal genetics in relation to animal breeding.
