Monsanto's Response To Contempt Of Court Hearing 28 July 1999

Tony Combes, Director of Corporate Affairs for Monsanto said:

"The Court found each of the four members of GenetixSnowball to be in contempt of Court and agreed Monsanto was correct in bringing to its attention the trashing of its GM sugarbeet crop on 16 June."

"The imposition of Mr Shaw's suspended sentence illustrates his reckless breach of the court's injunction."

"The Court accepted that in seeking neither costs nor compensation, Monsanto demonstrated its reluctance in bringing breaches of the injunction to the Court's attention."
