What Role Can GM Agriculture Play in Reducing the Detrimental Effects of Climate Change?

Agriculture of any type, be it organic, conventional or GM has some effect on the speed of climate change. But how best can the footprint of agriculture be shrunk in an economically and environmentally sustainable way? After 10 years of successful GM crops and with 90% of all GM growers farming in developing countries, will the next generation of GM crops over the coming decade speed up or slow down climate change?
