Taking A Closer Look

"Beautiful Science"
In October 1999, Monsanto unveiled a new exhibit at Walt Disney World Resort's Epcot® Center in Orlando, Florida, as part of Disney's Millennium Celebration. The 3,800-square-foot "Beautiful Science" interactive display invites visitors to take a closer look at biotechnology and its ability to address the food, health and nutrition challenges of the 21st century.

Located in the "Innoventions" Pavilion, "Beautiful Science" exposes children and adults to the breathtaking beauty of nature and enables them to share in some of the magical moments of discovery that modern scientists experience when they work to unlock nature's secrets. Guests can peek into the future through "Population Kaleidoscopes," they can play a nature quiz game on "What Do You See?" screens, and they can travel into cells all the way to the DNA level through innovative "Look Closer" machines. "Beautiful Science" will be open through 2001.

Other exhibits, sponsored by Monsanto and currently open to the public, include the "Hall of Biodiversity" at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the "Underground Adventure" exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago, the "Insectarium" at the St. Louis Zoo and the "DNA Zone" at the St. Louis Science Center.
